Is a slicker brush too harsh for a cat?

Not with a light hand. The pins are angled to be gentle, but any slicker pulls if pressed hard or dragged through a tangle. Use short strokes with the fur and stop while the cat is relaxed.

Does it work on short-haired dogs?

Yes, it is safe for all coat types. On a short coat it lifts the loose surface hair that ends up on the sofa; on thick or double coats the pins reach the loose undercoat.

How do I clean it?

Press the button so the pins retract and the hair lifts off in one piece. If dust is stuck near the base of the pins, rinse the head under warm water and air dry before storing.
